Collaborations

Collaboration with other researchers is an essential ingredient in any research program. It contributes to innovation by enabling the merging of different research ideas in a new novel combination. Partial overlap of the research expertise of two collaborators is the basis of starting the collaboration. Complete overlap of the expertise of the collaborating parties often does not fuel unexpected ideas.

At SRI, we have always valued collaborations. We are presently involved in several activities with colleagues at Universities and Industrial Research Centers. The following two lists span over the last ten years.

The FIPSE Collaboration

One of the most exciting collaborations over the last ten years has been the FIPSE initiative. It is a series of conferences in which all presentations and discussions are about open and unsolved research problems. More information about this initiative is given here and on the webpages of the conference here. I am grateful to Dominique Bonvin, Prodromos Daoutidis, Mike Doherty, Jay Lee, Wolfgang Marquardt, Costas Kiparissides, Costas Pandelides, and Erik Ydstie for being fellow travelers with me (CG) in this very innovative and, most importantly, fulfilling initiative.
