DDM Consortium

Operational Characteristics of the DDM Consortium

Most of the reach activities of the DDM consortium will take place at Tufts University, where a core group of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows will be tackling a series of challenging objectives in their research projects, in a comparative spirit. Frequent interaction with company representatives as members of theses committees will provide industrial input.

The membership fees of the consortium will be pulled to support the generic research activities of interest to the majority of the participants. Consortium member companies will also have the option of defining an supporting an additional Company Specific Research and Development project to apply the results of the generic research activities to one of their specific processes.

Representatives of the member companies will convene for an a review meeting at Tufts University in late April and late October to be given progress reports by the participating researchers. The consortium will issue a written progress report once a year for dissemination inside the participating companies.

One official representative from each company will become a member of the Industrial Advisory Committee (IAC). The IAC will elect its president and secretary and will meet with the research program director for a half a day following the two semiannual meeting of the consortium. It will synthesize the industrial feedback on the progress of the research and will select among the proposed new projects those that hold the greater promise for substantial innovation and industrial impact.
